Yet, at a professional development training last week, I got pushback from an educator because the program we have is designed to inspire GIRLS to enter STEM careers. He thinks we are discriminating against boys. Even after explaining all the reasons (that I don't need to explain here), he couldn't see the light. Fortunately, educators like that are in the minority but they aren't helping to solve this problem. less

He already has a mindset that is very hard to change. It is not discriminating against boys at all; boys are already in the fields; they do not need to be inspired because they are already in STEM. We can encourage them to stay with a STEM career, but there is no need to get them involved as we need to do for girls. Girls have been discouraged to enter these fields. Now we have to tell them that they can do the same things boys can do, or do them better. I will be more than happy to help you push on such diversity, and inclusion for all. Keep up the good work. Great Post! less
